Willie "Bubba" Lakes, Jr.

Willie “Bubba” Lakes, Jr., 83, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family following a lengthy illness. 

He was born on February 26, 1941, in Rosedale, Mississippi to Willie B. Lakes, Sr. and Ora Stevenson and moved to Lorain at an early age.

Willie “Bubba” Jr. was formerly employed at US Steel, Ferro Slag, and Camaco Lorain Manufacturing. 

Willie “Bubba” Jr. loved to cook & barbeque for family and friends, fishing, gardening, playing Spades, and playing the lottery. He was the founder and part of the organizing committee of the Campedo Reunion.

Willie “Bubba” Jr., leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Rosemary; his children, Anthony (Meridith), Anita, Willie, Dwight Bason, Dalphene Bason, and Delphette Calhoun; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special grandchildren Arica, Adriel, Akari, Ambre’l, Ariahn, Adoniyah, Anthony “AJ”, Marshall, Chenelle, and D’wayne Blue; five sisters, Catherine Smith, Joyce (Jackie) Stanley, Geraldine Curry, Joann Thomas, and Carolina Shelly; honorary children Valerie “Muffy” Lovett.

Willie “Bubba” Lakes Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, Wille B. Lakes Sr. and Ora Stevenson; a son, Aric Lakes; three brothers, James Stevenson, Larry Lakes, and Johnny Lakes; and a sister, Ivory Lakes.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until time the of his funeral service at 5:00 p.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain Ohio, where Pastor John Jackson of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Lorain Ohio, will officiate.
