Viola May Nunnally

Viola May Nunnally (née Foster), 49, of Lorain passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at home on Monday, September 11, 2023. Viola was born June 21, 1974 in Lorain where she had been a lifelong resident.
 
Viola graduated from Clearview High School in 1992. She graduated with honors and had perfect attendance during her whole time at Clearview, having missed only two days of school from her freshman year through senior year. She received her nursing degree as an LPN from Lorain Community College. Before receiving her nursing degree, she worked various jobs, which included McDonald’s, May Credit, and Tops grocery store. After receiving her nursing degree she began working at Harborside Health Center, Westbay Health Center, and Danbury, and most recently at Ganzhorn Suites.
 
Viola was a member of New. Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, where she had held various offices and served in many roles, including as a Bible study teacher for the youth and teenagers. She helped create and was an overseer of the junior praise team. She played a big role with the attendance of the children in the mass choir. She was remembered for how she used her first car, which was a van, to pick up children for choir rehearsal and church services. She was also a member of the adult praise team and mass choir.
 
Viola enjoyed playing cards with her mother, singing in the choir, working as a nurse, helping others and being an aunt/mom to her nieces and nephews.
 
Viola leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 19 years, Andrew Nunnally; her mother, Glenda L Foster; her sister, Dorothy (Lawrence) Atkinson, Sr., and brother, Leo T Foster; nieces, Lisa Atkinson, LeAndria Foster, Glenda (Tyler) Neer, Viola M Atkinson, and Danielle Atkinson, and nephews, Lawrence J Atkinson, Jr., Derek Atkinson, Reginald Bouchonville, Robert Bouchonville, Krie Foster, and Tyler Neer, Sr., a great niece, Lilly R Neer, and great nephew, Tyler C Neer, Jr.; aunts, Irene (James) Carter, Alice Jackson, Chaplin Florida B Battle, Sylvia (Robert) Young, and Barbara Kay Wiggins Battle, and her uncles, Willie (Peggy) Battle, Jr., Elder Ernest (LaVenia) Battle, and Joe Martin; a great aunt, Janie Burnett; a host of other living relatives and friends.
 
Viola was preceded in death by her father, Howard J Foster, Jr. in July 1992, her grandparents, Willie Battle, Sr. and Viola Battle, and Dorothy M Thomas, an uncle, Harry Battle; two nephews, Larry Foster and Isaac Jacob Atkinson.
 
Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 10 AM until time of her service 11 AM at New. Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave in Lorain; Pastor Tyrone Holley will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
