Vernon Lester Floyd

Vernon Lester Floyd was born June 13, 1958, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, to the late Willie Lee Floyd and Ella Mae Blackmon Floyd. He grew up as a child in the Becton Community. He was called home on October 9, 2022.Vernon was enlisted in the National Guard shortly after he graduated from Cotton Plant High School in 1978 and served there in the guard for many years with his buddy Randy Walker. Vernon was a manager at KFC in Brinkley for years, then he worked at the Sawmill in Des Arc, Arkansas. While in Ohio, he worked at Elyria Fence Installation Company for 20 years before he transitioned. In his early years, Vernon was quite the pretty boy and was often referred to as “Prince.” He married Linda Conway and they lived in Elyria, Ohio until his death.Vernon was preceded in death by his father and mother, Willie Lee Floyd and Ella Mae Floyd, his brothers, twins Lonzo and Oscar Floyd and Kevin Floyd; his sister, Betty Floyd, and his special friend and partner in crime, Willie Arthur Scott. To celebrate his life and legacy he leaves his lovely wife, Linda Conway Floyd of Elyria, his children, Vernon Floyd, Jr. of Batesville, Ark., Joshua Floyd and Danese Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark.; his stepchildren, Nathaniel (Anika) Charlton Conway, Starsky (Haley) Conway and Tanecha ‘Bird’ Charlton Conway Paden of Sandusky, Antwon Hardy and Lamarcus Hardy and Tomeka Hardy of Cotton Plant, Ark.; his brothers, Robert Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark., Willie Lee (Doris) Floyd of Cleveland, Oh., Philip of Diaz, Ark., Bruce (April) Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark. Larry Floyd (Tina) of Little Rock, Ark., Ervin Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark., Leroy Floyd of Little Rock, Ark and Edward (Lofa) Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark.; his sisters, Elizabeth Floyd of Searcy, Ark., Dorsey Sain of Little Rock, Ark., Sarah Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark., Angela (Willard) Ryland of Carlisle, Ark., Patricia Floyd, Tabitha Floyd and Peggy Floyd of Cotton Plant, Ark.; his only living aunt, Annie Lee Ivy of Cotton Plant, Ark.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.Visitation will be Saturday, October 22, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home.
