Elyria

Tracy L King

Tracy L. King, of Elyria, Ohio, was the second child born to Doris V. Taylor and Joe Bill Taylor on January 10, 1967, in Winchester, Tennessee.

Tracy was three years old when her mother, Doris Taylor, and two brothers, Troy and Shannon Taylor, all relocated to Elyria, Ohio in 1970. Tracy graduated from Elyria High School in June 1985. Tracy became a homemaker and donned love over the love of her life, (Don) Dontasse King Sr., and her three sons, Dontasse II, Dariel, and Drakkare King. Once the boys entered adolescence, Tracy obtained her STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) Certificate in 1995 and began her career working at Wesleyan Village in Elyria. She later continued her career at Avon Oaks Caring Community in 2014, where she honed her skills and enveloped lasting friendships. Tracy was a dedicated worker who displayed strong work ethics and was in this field for 29 years.

Tracy loved family and her heart was so mega and welcoming. Her brothers Troy and Shannon reminisced that when they were little kids, they loved music, and they enjoyed sitting on the couch rocking back and forth to music, while their mother was cleaning the house.

As mentioned, Tracy loved music and she and her cousin Shatika White-Davis would frequently attend dances in Lorain. In February of 1984, Dontasse Romel King, of Cleveland, visited the same dance as Tracy, and this is where she met her beloved future husband. They were in love and dated for 15 years and got married on February 24, 1998, and to this union were born three sons.

Tracy and (Don) Dontasse R. King Sr. loved watching the NBA games together and with the boys. Tracy’s favorite team was the Cleveland Cavaliers and her favorite #23 LeBron James. She stayed loyal to LeBron even after his departure to the LA Lakers. Tracy loved family outings to Port Clinton, watching horror movies in the dark, the Lifetime channel, and her favorite soap opera—General Hospital. Tracy loved spending time with her sister-friend Christina (Chris) Lee. They would frequently hang out at the internet cafés, Bingo, and lunch at Olive Garden. Tracy loved for Chris to make her famous homemade chicken soup with potatoes, and her sister-in-law Carolyn’s banana pudding. Tracy and Don also loved hanging out with Shannon and Chris Lee playing Spades and talking smack. Tracy loved spending time with her grandson Camden (Cam) and attending his soccer games. Tracy, even when she was not felling her best, would not miss her baby Cam’s soccer games. She even mustered up enough strength to visit her sons Dontasse II and Michael Early in Indiana for Thanksgiving Day. Tracy was in awe that she got to see Don’s and Michael’s new home.

Tracy L King transitioned home to our Lord, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 16, 2024.

Tracy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Dontasse Romel King Sr.; both parents, Doris V Taylor and Joe Bill Taylor; father-in-law Elder (Buster) Watson and mother-in-law Beulah Mae Watson; both paternal grand-parents, Roy Taylor and Hattie Taylor; both material grandparents, Henry Perkins Sr. and Dimple V. Lawson; one sister-in-law, Marcella King Piazza; four brothers-in-law, David L. Jackson (Thomasine), Terri King, Michael King (Tracie King), and Charles Piazza.
