He was born in Raleigh, West Virginia on August 17, 1945, where he played football during his high school years. He moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1968. Samuel loved hunting, fishing and playing softball. He was a former umpire for various teams in the city of Lorain. He also played softball with the former Black AC’s. He is survived by his wife, Linda Wilson; a son, Douglas Wilson; his grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Karen Green (Jimmie Carpé-Diem Green), Tesha Wilson, Chenelle Wilson and Brandon Wilson; cousins he treated like nephews, Danny Hoskins and Columbus Wilson, and other relatives and friends. Samuel was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Wilson, and his parents, Samuel Wilson, Sr. and Willie Mae Slaughter. A viewing will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 10AM until time of funeral service at 11AM at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, Lorain. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
