Rozena Ammons, of Elyria, made her transition into heaven on May 11, 2022 at the age of 59. She was born in Lorain, Ohio to Nathaniel West and Clara L. Christman on November 10, 1962. She graduated from Lorain High School and worked at Rae Ann Suburban Nursing Home in Westlake. She was a member of New Morning Star Primitive Baptist Church in Lorain. Rozena enjoyed watching old time westerns, listening to music, and cooking, especially cabbage and cornbread, and food in general. She also enjoyed her grandbabies and lived a life devoted to her family. She will always be remembered for saying “ain’t nothing like family.” She is survived by her husband, Albert Ammons, of Georgia; eldest son, Victor McCown, Jr., and second son, Qudidas L. West, both of Elyria, third son, Al L. Ammons, of Lorain, youngest son, Roshun T. Ammons, of Aurora, Ohio and stepson, Marcus M. McCown of Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by her sisters, Rita Rader of Nashville, Tenn. and Harriet West-Moore of Elyria; her brothers, Ethan West and Mark West, both of Elyria and Dominique Jenkins of Louisville, Kentucky; her god-siblings, Toni Lacey-Royal, Keith Harris, Shirley Jennings and Hamp Horton; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; her uncle and aunt, Curtis and Mary Ann Brisby; many nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Rozena was preceded in death by her grandparents, Reverend Jeremiah Willis and Mother Erie Willis; her father, Nathaniel West, and mother, Clara L. Christman; her sisters, Shafaye Bonds and Phillinee Jenkins-Ballard and a brother, Darrick West. Viewing will be Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at New Morning Star Primitive Baptist Church, 3020 Surf Ave, Lorain OH 44053, with Rev.
