Rosita “Rosa” Ortiz

Rosita “Rosa” Ortiz, 66, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021, in UH St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio following a lengthy illness.
Rosita was born June 12, 1955, in Gary, Indiana. She was raised in Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated from Tuley High School. Shortly after graduation she moved to Lorain, Ohio. She was a stay-at-home mother until her children became older. Then, she began working as a Nurse’s Aide at Lorain Manor Nursing Home, and later became a Pharmacy Technician at Rite Aid.
Rosita was known for her love of children and enjoyed helping to raise some of her nieces and nephews and several bonus children.
Rosita will be sadly missed by her three children, Anthony Atkinson, Marcus Atkinson and Evelisse Atkinson; her seven grandchildren, Sierra Atkinson, Abraham Ortiz Jr., Ciana Diaz, Celina Atkinson, Elia Evans, Anthony Atkinson III and Jason Evans Jr.; her siblings, Margarita, Lydia, Felicita, Jacqueline and Elva; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Rosita was preceded in death by her father Inocencio Ortiz and her brothers Inocencio “Negro” Ortiz Jr., James Ortiz and Ruben Ortiz. Shortly following Rosita’s death, her mother Alejandra Ortiz and her sister Gloria also passed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain OH 44052.
