Rosemary A. Lovett, 76, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. She was born January 1, 1946 in Lima, Ohio, but lived most of her life in Lorain. Rosemary retired as a childcare assistant. She loved children and it brought her great joy to be in the presence of her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending church where she served in various capacities throughout the years, spending time with family and friends, attending family functions, watching movies and listening to music. He also enjoyed walking and shopping. She was very social and was well known and respected within the community. She was always willing to help those in need. She will be sadly missed by seven children: Dimitrius Lovett, Valerie Lovett, Imess Lovett, Jameelah Lovett, Nicole Lovett, Kahleelah Lovett and Alonzo K. Lovett; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilmer Portis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leel Lovett; a daughter, Tara L. Neely; her parents, Horace and Minnie (née Hays) Portis; brothers, James Portis, Ernest Portis, Horace Eugene Portis Jr and Leonard Portis; sisters, Debora King, Edna Cummings and Janet Chaney, and a grandson, Shontorain Lovett. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 9, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Church, 2002 E. 28th St, Lorain. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
