Robert E. Ramsey, “Bob”, 76, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness. He was born March 7, 1945 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1963 graduate of Admiral King High School. He later worked for American Shipyard, Nelson Stud and U.S. Steel Lorain Works. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965-1968 and was a Disabled American Veteran. His tour of duty in Vietnam was the Tet Offensive (1967). He also completed the Vietnamese language at the Defense Language Institute-West Coast Branch. His military awards include the Rifle Marksmanship Badge, National Defense Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation and the Purple Heart Medal with 2 stars. He was honorably discharged in August 1968. Bob enjoyed sports, puzzles, keno and was an avid fisherman. He was a loving person who enjoyed his family and friends and will be missed by everyone. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald (Bonnie), Kenneth (Ruby) and Jeffrey Ramsey; sisters, Maxine Head, June, Barbara, Lillian and Kathryn Ramsey, all of Lorain, and Mary Ann Johnson of Florida; an uncle and aunt, James & Alene Holliman of Oberlin; numerous nieces and nephews; Rebecca “Becky” and other relatives and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert H. & Maxine (Holliman) Ramsey Jr.; brothers, Benjamin, James, Albert III and John; a sister, Louise (Ramsey) Randleman and sister-in-law, Shirley Ramsey. A walk-through viewing will be held Friday, September 10, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain.
