Richard Chester (RC) Morrison, 86, of Lorain, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in Amherst Manor following a brief illness. He was born June 2, 1936 in Covington, Tennessee, and lived in Lorain, Ohio for over 60 years. He was a long-time faithful member of Greater St. Matthew AME Church in Lorain where he served on the usher board. He retired from the Lorain Ford Motor plant after 30 years of service in the checking and receiving department. In his younger days, Richard had a strong desire to play baseball which led him to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals and played locally for the Hawks. He was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State football team. He enjoyed shooting pool, listening to blues, jazz and gospel music, and gardening. He had a great passion for landscaping and was meticulous about his yard. He was also very photogenic and when given the opportunity he would display his wonderful collection of Stacy Adam shoes for which he was known for wearing. Mr. Morrison will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Morrison; five children, Phyllis Morrison, Cynthia (Melvin) McDowell, Lisa Green, Dolois Yates, and Calvin Fayne; four grandchildren, Justin McDowell, Brandon Richard McDowell, Kymberlee Morrison, and Candis Morrison; two brothers, Larry Morrison and Jerry Morrison; two sisters, Lucille Yarbro and Caffey Morrison; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Morrison, his parents, Walter Sr. and Inez Morrison; two brothers, Walter Jr. and Johnny Morrison; and a sister, Ida Morrison. Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2022 from 10AM until time of service at 11AM at Greater St. Matthew AME Church, 1909 W 24th St, Lorain. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
