Reggie “Chicken” was born October 4, 1949, in Akron, Ohio to Gwendolyn “Joanne” and Edward “Remus” Anderson in Akron, Ohio. At an early age Reggie moved to Lorain, Ohio and was adopted and raised by his grandparents Willie and Daisy Smith.
Upon graduation in 1968, he went on to serve in the United States Army. He worked for many years at U.S Steel and from there gave many years of service to Ford Motor Company.
In his younger years, he was a member of the Sahives, The Black AC’s Softball Team, The Iron Stallions Motorcycle Club and President of the Afro Dogs Motorcycle Club.
He enjoyed being with family and friends playing cards and dominos. He also enjoyed watching cooking shows, westerns and hanging out with his dog Yum Yum.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years Carrie Smith; daughters- Stephanie (Twon) Smith-Johnson, Angela Smith, Felicia Smith, and stepdaughter LaVoncia Cabbil; sons- Reginald Dale Smith Jr., George Smith, and Josh Jackson; sisters- Karen Barnes, Sandra Franklin, and Sheila ‘Shell” Smith; brothers-Nelson Smith, Anthony “Tony” (Cindy) Anderson and Melvin Smith. Special friends, Shirl Young, Gene Wilson, Arthur Lusane, Gregory Calhoun & Glen Jenkins, as well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, loving friends, and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents-Gwendolyn “Joanne” and Edward “Remus” Anderson, grandparents –Willie and Daisy Smith, sister- Sheila R. Smith and stepson Robert “Petey” Cabbil.
Viewing service will be held on March 20, 2022, from 2-4pm at the Brown-Robinson Funeral Home 2652 Broadway Avenue Lorain, Ohio. Repast will follow viewing service and he will receive military honors on March 30, 2022, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Mask is required
