Portia Mae Boyd

Portia Mae Boyd, 67, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness. 

Portia was born March 30, 1956 in Lorain, Ohio where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School in 1975. After high school she received training as a nurses' aide and worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home for several years. She later worked at Head Start as a teacher's assistant. After raising her four children, she worked as a home health aide for Home Health Care Network and Maxim Healthcare until her health began to decline. 

Portia attended the Lorain West Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses where she was baptized in 2002. She enjoyed commenting at congregation meetings when she was able. Among other things that she loved to do were shopping, going out for ice cream, and talking to friends and family on the phone. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. They affectionately called her "Mae Mae". 

Portia leaves to cherish her memory four children, Preston (Kazumi) Boyd of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Heather Boyd, Derrick Boyd and Porisha (Chad) Salkiewicz, all of Lorain; 5 grandchildren, Camron, Ebony, London, Jovaun and Janiyah; a brother Delbert Redd; and two sisters, Carolyn Redd and Doris Jean Redd. 

Portia was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Preston Boyd Sr.; her parents, Willie and Margaret Reed; two brothers, Dale Reed and Daniel Armstrong, and sister, Evelyn Henderson. 

Visitation will be Monday, August 7, 2023, from 10 am until time of service at 12pm at Brown Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
