Paul Matthew Jones, 52, departed the physical and transitioned to eternal peace on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering faith.
He was born on October 13, 1971, in Lorain, Ohio. During his early years he lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan and has since been a fan of the University of Michigan football team. He returned to Lorain, Ohio where he was known as an outstanding football player for Admiral King and Southview High School from which he graduated.
After graduating high school, he went on to attend Central State University on a football scholarship. He enjoyed all athletics and working with the youth as he had a passion for coaching baseball for Lorain youth.
Paul had his own ideas at a very young age and was strong-willed and determined to accomplish any plan he set his mind to. Known for his jovial spirit and quick wit, he was the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter to all who knew him. He was loyal and outspoken for those he called family and friends.
A signature attribute was how hilarious he was! You couldn’t be mad at him for long because he would make you laugh in the next breath. He enjoyed family time like road trips and watching movies.
He was a hard-worker and strong-willed. He had a tough exterior but wore his heart on his sleeves. Most importantly, despite life's trials, he remained steadfast in his faith, often referring to God as his "Dad."
Paul Matthew Jones is survived by his children who each share a part of his name, Paula (LaVontae) Jones-Bradford, Matthew Jones, Paul Taj Jones, and Olivia Paul-Lynn Jones; his father, Samuel Branch (Darlene and siblings; Angelique and Yahshua); brother, Mark Jones; an aunt, Michelle Spotts-Hayes; a cousin, Ariel Spotts; his first love and lifetime friend, Libby Tarpley (mother of 3 children); special friend, Marisa Jenkins (mother of 1 child); his dear college friend, Kalih Sampson, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
In addition, he was preceded in death by his mother, Carole Jones, and grandmother, Gwendolyn Ashford. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Paul's infectious laughter and unwavering faith will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he made a profound impact on the lives of many.
The family will be hosting a private Celebration of Life.
