Lorain

(Mother) Lois Louise Folmar

Lois L Folmar, age 92, of Lorain, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025.

She was born in Edna, Alabama and graduated in 1951 from Kinterbish High School in Cuba, Alabama. After high school she moved to Elyria, Ohio, and then on to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She eventually returned to Elyria. and years later she met and married Billie J Folmar. In 1964 the family moved to Lorain, where they remained.

During the years after moving to Lorain, she was employed at the former Uncle Bill’s/Cook United stores where she worked in the office coordinating newspaper sales ads and printing in-store signage. After nearly twenty years of employment with the company, the business closed and she went on to work for the former Gold Circle discount store in Elyria, Lorain Community Action Agency and Gatewood Industry in Lorain, and finally retired after spending a few more years with Sam’s Club in Elyria where she worked in the membership department. In prior years she was an active PTA mom who helped coordinate fund raising events at the former Hawthorne-Boone Elementary/Junior High School in Lorain.

She was a longtime member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church of Lorain for over 60 years and faithfully served in various church ministries under the leadership of the late Reverend Cornelius Spraggins and continued on under the leadership of his grandson, Elder Tyrone Holley. She had served the church as a past treasurer, past Sunday school teacher, and was a Deaconess/Mother of the church, having served as president of the Mother’s Board.

After she retired from many years of working, her leisure time included reading and studying the bible, having her daily “me time” during which she would petition the Lord in prayer—seeking “God’s favor”—for her family and others. Her other enjoyments included doing daily crossword puzzles, going shopping, and taking out time for family and friends.

She will be forever cherished and missed by her children, Marva, Kelvin, Kermetta, and Linda; her granddaughter, Talisa, and grandson, Morgan (Allison); her great grandsons, Torean and Jermaine, and great granddaughters, Sage and Skylar; her sister and best friend, Minister Gertrude R. Cooper and her sisters Wanda J. Capers and Rosemary Capers, all of Elyria, Shirley A. Allen (Will) and Annie P. Jones (Jerry), of Lorain, her brother, Min. Jeffrey L. Capers (Dana), of Elyria; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, both near and far; especially her very dear friend, Wyza Williams, of Lorain; three goddaughters, Tina Allen, Viola Atkinson and Bernetta (Larsosa) Beasley; and her entire church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie ‘Bill’, in February 2025; a daughter in infancy, Marlene; her mother, Brunette (Mann) Capers; her father, Samuel Capers, and stepmother, Rosie (Taylor) Capers; three brothers, Willie Hollis, Joe Wallace Capers, and Ellis Ed Capers; two sisters, Bertha Lee (Capers) Noble and Catherine Capers; and a long list of ancestors.

Visitation hour will be Saturday, April 19, 2025, from10AM until time of service at 11AM at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain. Interment will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
