Maurice Ronzell Hitchens, son of Ronald Hitchens, Sr. and Michelle Robinson, was born July 11, 1987, in Lorain, Ohio. At the age of 34 years old, he transitioned from this earthly life on Thursday, January 6, 2022, after a brief illness. He graduated from Clearview High School in 2005, then attended the University of Akron from 2007 until 2009. Maurice went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from Lorain County Community College in 2013, an Associate’s Degree in Computer and Digital Forensics from Lorain County Community College in 2016, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering Technology from the University of Toledo in 2018. Maurice was employed as a Security Operations Center (SOC) analyst at MCPc, where he began his career as an IT Department Intern in 2016. Prior to that he was employed as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at Life Care, and a volunteer firefighter for Sheffield Township Fire Department. Maurice was a 32 Degree Freemason, belonging to Black River Lodge #786 F. & A.M. of Lorain, Ohio. He loved to help people and enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, snorkeling, and fishing. Maurice was very adventurous and was not afraid to try new things. During his free time, he enjoyed playing the keyboard, video games and going to the shooting range. Maurice was an awesome cook and a master on the grill. Maurice leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Michelle (Earnest) Robinson of Lorain, OH; father, Ronald Hitchens Sr. of Lorain, OH; 3 sisters, Lakeisha Harrison of Lorain, OH, Jzayla Jackson of Louisville, KY, and Jazmonet Jackson of Lorain, OH; 2 brothers, Ronald Hitchens Jr. of Lorain, OH and Jeremiah Jackson of Columbus, OH; 1 niece, Leah Penny; 4 nephews, Terrance Cavin, Liam Penny, Amari Hitchens and Noah Howard; grandmother, Della Howard; grandfather, Dalton Ray Hitchens; girlfriend, Dontia Joshway; and a host of family and friends. He was proceeded in death by his brother, Jordan Lawrence; grandmother, Rose Marie Hitchens; and grandfathers, Gerald Howard Sr., and William Blake. A viewing will be held FROM 9am until time of service at 11am on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Living Word Church-South, 2002 E. 28th St., Lorain. The burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
