Lottie Lee Cato (nee Gray), age 82, passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Lottie was born on 04/08/1939 in Zachary, Louisiana, and she relocated to Ohio in 1964 and has been an Ohio resident since. Lottie was the only surviving child of 24 siblings.
Lottie was a homemaker and a proud member of Lake and Walnut Church of Christ located in Elyria, OH. She had a zest for life and loved everyone that she met in her lifetime! Her love for God and Jesus Christ shined bright in all that she did. She was famous for saying “Always put God first in your life” and it was evident that she did. People would describe her as a true angel on this earth. Lottie enjoyed shopping, cooking, talking to her kids and spending time with them, playing cards, reading the Bible and doing Bible trivia. She also had an extreme love and passion for The Philadelphia Eagles football team, cheering them on at every single game!
Lottie is survived by her children, Dinah Clayton of Cleveland, Benjamin (Monique) Lewis of Lorain, Jennifer Corbin of Lorain, Geraldine Lewis of Lorain, Cathaleen Cato (Darryl) Scott of Florida, and Terri Lynn (Amy) Arendt of Lorain. Lottie had 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by her favorite grandDOG, Buster Brown Arendt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Lollie Gray (nee Redd), two sons, Darnell Lewis and Jerome Lewis, 23 brothers and sisters, her husband, Leroy Cato, and her longtime companion of over 20+ years, Terrence W. Callahan.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday, Feb 5, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon, at Lake & Walnut Church of Christ, 1101 Lake Ave., Elyria, OH, 44035.
