Laurence Ray Jones

Laurence Ray Jones, 61, of Avon, unexpectedly passed away on Monday April 24, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic in Avon. He was born May 11, 1961 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1965 where he graduated from Southview High School. After graduation he enlisted into the United States Army. Following his service, he attended college at Lorain County Community College where he studied Business Administration. At the time of his passing, Laurence was employed at Symrise Inc in Elyria where he had been employed since October of 1987. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, attending car shows, watching a good old western, listening to the blues, spending time with his children and grandchildren as well as just enjoying life with his family. To cherish his memory, he leaves a loving significant other Cathy Ann Duncombe and her boys, Thomas Smith, Gregory Smith Jr. and Kevin Young; his children Larry Jones, Lanise (Joe) Jones, Jessica “Jessie” (Junior) Bailey, Tyre (Nayshung) Jones, Brittany Jones, James Williams, Marvin Jones and Pete Jones; brothers and sisters Donald “Snake” (Dora) Lawhorn, Rebecca “BJ” Lawhorn, Inez “Hot Dog” Jones, James T. Jones, Micheal Aldridge, Monty Jones, Bernard “Tex The Weasel” Clayton, Monique Clayton, Kyle Jones, Jason Jones, Paula Ware, Gregory Smith, Nelly Williams and Rodger Aldridge Jr.; 14 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Laura “Diamond Lady” Jones, his father Tyre Martin, his biological father Ray Jones, his sister Doris “Dee” Washington, and his brothers Larry “Eli” Martin and Marvin Jones. Visitation will be from 11AM until time of service at 12 Noon on Tuesday May 2, 2023 at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave in Lorain. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
