Kevin ‘Skimo’ Harris, 65, of Lorain, transitioned on Sunday May 15, 2022, following a long illness. He was born January 31, 1957 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain, Ohio and was a lifelong resident.
Kevin graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lorain. He enjoyed watching old westerns and old black and white sitcoms, his favorite being The Andy Griffith Show.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Wesley ‘Pete’ Harris and Sarah Harris, his brother Clarence Hughes, and his sister Jean Harris.
He is survived by: his son, Kevin R. Harris, Jr. of Columbus; his daughter, Keona R. Harris of Lima; his life partner, Ellen Friend; his 3 nephews, Anetaeus Spencer, Chance Spencer and LeShone Jones, whom he unselfishly helped raise; his brothers, Wesley Harris (Diane) of Lorain, Gregory Harris of Fayette MS, Dwayne Harris of Cleveland, Anthony Harris (Trhonga) of Los Angeles CA, Elvin Hughes (Donna) of Lorain, Dennis Hughes (Meka) of Columbus, Vernon Hughes (Lisa) of Elyria, Steve Hughes of Atlanta GA and Jeffrey Hughes (Nikole) of Lorain; his sisters, Denise Gaitor (Vincent) of Indianapolis IN, Linda Clopton of Lorain, Rosalind Wright of Montgomery AL and Leslie Harris of Grady AL. Kevin is also survived by numerous, wonderful nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 10 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 220 West 7th St., Lorain OH 44052. The Rev. Michael Howard will officiate the service.
