Judson Lamarr Lyons, 75, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born January 1, 1950, in Moody, Alabama, and had been a resident of Lorain since 1977.
Judson graduated from Saint Clair County Training School in Pell City, Alabama. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on November 12, 1969. While in the Marine Corps, he was part of the 1811-Tank where he served as a crewman. After receiving an honorable discharge on July 29, 1975, he resided in Buffalo, New York until he moved to Lorain, Ohio.
He was employed at RTA of Cleveland until he retired on March 31, 2021, after 25 years of service as a transit operator. While working as a transit operator, he received many service awards for his attendance and his ability to remain accident-free. Judson enjoyed his job, which allowed him to interact with adults and children alike from all walks of life.
Judson enjoyed playing pool and was known as, “shark shooter.” He found great enjoyment in reading and politics. He also enjoyed watching sports and playing the lottery.
Judson leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife of 24 years, Sandra Lyons (née Martindale); a brother, Madison Ray Lyons of Hanover, Maryland; his godson, Kendall James Butler of Huntersville, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Kirk (Stephanie) Martindale of Huntsville, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Bill) Shumpert of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kim Martindale of Decatur, Alabama; a cousin, Joe (Gloria) Lewis; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Judson Lyons was preceded in death by his parents, Madison and Bernice Lyons; a sister, Mozzelle Bahar; his mother-in-law, Edith Martindale; a brother-in-law, Raymond E. Martindale; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will hold private services.
