Joyce Marie Robinson (neé Arnold), 58, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2024. She was born November 16, 1965, to Calvin Grady Arnold and Ms. Jeanette (neé Williams) Arnold-Riggins, in Elyria, Ohio.
Her name meant “joyous”, and she lived up to her name with her brilliant smile and joyful spirit; she lit up every room she entered and shared her warmth generously with all who knew her. Her love for singing was a gift she shared often, filling her community with music and happiness. She was a 1984 graduate of Elyria West High School and was a dedicated member of the Marching Band and Choral. She was employed by Lorain County Job and Family Services, where she served as a dedicated supervisor who truly cared for her staff. Her kindness and support fostered many special friendships, and she was respected and beloved by her colleagues.
Joyce is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Stephen Robinson of Lorain; her mother, Jeanette (neé Williams) Arnold-Riggins of Elyria; her brothers, Jeffrey (Angela) Arnold of Florida, Sanford “Causie” Whitfield, Cedric Whitfield, Michelle Arnold, Lekethia Riggins, Calvin Arnold Jr., Anthony Riggins, and Tyrone Arnold; a sister, Theresa (Arnold) Townsend; special sister-cousins, Kelly Sparks, Regina Arnold, Terri Arnold, and Louise Petro; best friends Tamara Coats, Heather Hire, Theresa Nelson, and Sonya Lee; and her God Children.
She was preceded in death by father, Calvin Grady Arnold; paternal grandfather, Grady Arnold Sr., and paternal grandmother, Virgina Arnold; maternal grandfather, Alonza Lee Williams, and maternal grandmother, Mary (neé King) Lee.
Joyce cherished every moment spent with her beloved husband, finding joy in their travels and shared experiences. One of her greatest joys was the unique and loving relationship she shared with her mother, with whom she spent countless cherished moments. Their bond was truly extraordinary, marked by deep love, laughter, and companionship. Also, she had a true passion for baking and cooking. Her friends affectionally call her a “fish” because of her love of swimming. Joyce was deeply loved and cherished by her family, friends, and the community, who will remember her for the joy she spread and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her warmth and beautiful spirit will be dearly missed.
