Joyce L. Ivey, 64 of Elyria, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, after a lengthy illness. Joyce was born January 6, 1957 in Lorain, Ohio to Betty Fluker & Leander Smith. Joyce loved spending time with her family, especially her daughter and her grandchildren. She was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lorain, where she was an active member and sang in the choir. Her faith in God was the strength and source of her soul. Among her many skills was being the life of the party. She enjoyed keeping anybody and everyone’s children in line, and screaming “who let the dogs out?” She was an avid sports fan of basketball and football, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren as well. Her favorite places to eat were Famous Dave’s, and biscuits and gravy from Bob Evans. Joyce will be dearly missed by her mother, Betty (Tommy) Fluker; her 3 children, Jerome Fields Jr., Charles Ivey, and JoeQuenda Ivey; 4 sisters, Quanda Perry, Michelle Jones, Leanne Smith, and Marilyn (George) Smith; 6 brothers, Joseph (Candance) Ivey, James/Al(Michelle) Ivey, William/Kelly(Pamela) Ivey, Ricky (Aldrenna) Smith, Micah Smith, and Marlo (Tristin) Smith; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends. Joyce was in preceded in death by her father, Leander Smith and her godmother, Ida Doss. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 10AM until time of the service at 11AM at New Life Deliverance Ministries (MPGT), 400 Washington Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, 640 North Ridge Road, Lorain OH 44053. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
