He Turned in His Card…
John Golden Jr., (aka Monk), departed this earth peacefully on November 2, 2024, with family by his side.
He was born on May 2, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, to John and Virginia (née Massey) Golden, and raised to know Jesus Christ as his Savior. At a very early age, John moved to Lorain, Ohio, with his parents and two (2) older siblings. He attended Admiral King High School before being employed at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, in the early 70s. In the early 80s, John moved back to Atlanta, Georgia, where he found employment as a Plaster & Finishing Contractor employing a crew of six.
John (aka Monk) always had an keen interest in dogs, and could quickly rattle off the temperament, behavior, and traits of various breeds. He thought of himself somewhat as a self-proclaim “foodie”. He enjoyed just hanging out with family and friends, especially his nieces and nephews, watching action packed movies, playing cards and chess.
John was preceded in death by his father, John A. Golden Sr., his mother Virginia E. (née Massey) Golden, and two sisters: Shirley D. Whitfield and Pamela J. Golden respectfully.
He leaves two sisters, Johnnie Mae Cabbil (Lorain), and Linda D. Turner (Gahanna, Ohio); two sons: John Golden Jr. II and Christopher Warren, a daughter, Vanecia Bracey, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and family to cherish his memories.
Final disposition was entrusted to Marlan Gray Funeral Homes, Columbus, Ohio. A private graveside interment was held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
