Jim Harvey Jr., 76, of Lorain, passed away following a long illness on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in St. John Westshore Hospital in Westlake. He was born November 6, 1945 in York, Alabama and had lived in Lorain County for over 50 years. Jim was a member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Lorain where he had served as a trustee and a janitor. He retired from the Lorain Ford plant after 31 years of service and was a retiree of UAW Local 425. He enjoyed playing racquetball, swimming, deer hunting, fishing and gardening. Jim will sadly be missed by his wife of 55 years, Mary J. Harvey (née Thomas); his three daughters, Dionne (Walter) Thomas, Sandra Ward-Jackson and Diamarche Harvey; three sons, Jim (Stacey) Harvey III, Darek Harvey Sr. and Carteus Harvey; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Curtis Ward and a nephew who was like a brother, Johnny (Jerry) Patrick; a sister, Janie Harris, and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Harvey Sr. and Corene Ward (née Hair); two grandchildren, Antonio Ward and Jeremy Coats; two sisters, Margaret Tillman and Sudie Horn; brothers, Marzine Harvey, Charlie Harvey Sr., Ellis Sanders Ward, Jesse Harvey and Curtis Drake. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 10AM until time of funeral service at 11AM at New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 3880 Dayton Ave, Lorain. Pastor Tyrone Holley will eulogize. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
