Janet “Jan” Diane Carr, age 76, and a resident of Lorain went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Janet was born March 10, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Stephen and Mary Bourekas (nee Bush). Jan was the face of Pat Catan’s craft store in Lorain/Amherst/Elyria for 28 years. She was always quick to ask about the lives of everyone she bumped into, and to reply with accolades that her grandchildren were accomplishing.Jan loved everything about nautical themes (even before her son Jeff joined the Navy), she loved lighthouses and ships; she loved patriotic themes from flags and banners to anything red, white and blue; she loved all things Christmas, with nutcrackers, angels and snowmen topping the list.Jan was a student of baseball since her days of watching the Pirates play at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh with her Grandma Plivoris and sister Betty Jo, while rooting on Roberto Clemente and her Bucs. She loved watching ANY baseball games, but especially loved watching her Guardians (her favorites being Jose Ramirez and Steven Kwan), and she loved watching her grandson Garrett play travel baseball (she made all the home games and was an avid Game Changer user for away games).Jan loved watching the theatre performances of her grandkids and especially loved her granddaughter Chloe’s rendition of Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. Jan loved hearing about the success of her granddaughter Abby as she was accepted and excelled at the Davis Center for Portfolio Management at the University of Dayton, earning multiple scholarships. Jan loved babies and kids and was a true grandma, full of hugs, gentleness, acceptance and an attentive ear. Jan loved family gatherings, board games and stories. Jan lived, she laughed, and she loved. Jan confessed Jesus as Savior and lived that way too. Jan now knows eternal peace and love in heaven. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Ronnie Bourekas and her dear Grandma Mary Plivoris. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Melissa) Carr, her grandchildren: Abigail, Chloe and Garrett Carr, her sister Betty Jo (Paul) Haser, her sister-in-law, Betty Bourekas, her Aunt Fay Patricca, her Uncle Bobby Plivoris, her numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
