James Lee Thomas Sr., affectionally known as “Silver”, was born on April 3, 1948 in Whitfield, AL (York, AL) to Moses Thomas and Daisy Coleman Bush who preceded James in death along with his siblings William Lee Thomas, Rosie Pepkin, Fred Lee Thomas, Levi Bush, Levert Bush, Donna Rose Thomas-Locke and Yvette Bush. The family migrated to Mobile, AL where he and his siblings spent most of their childhood and teenage years. James attended and graduated from Cedar Grove Academy High School in Prichard, AL. He eventually moved to Lorain, OH where he gave his life to Christ, joining Euclid Avenue Baptist Church.  James received an Associate Degree in Business Accounting from Lorain County Community College, shortly after he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1968 where he fought in the Vietnam War. After serving his country, James landed a position at BF Goodrich in Lorain, OH and later was gainfully employed at Ford Motor Company, where he held multiple positions in Avon Lake, OH, and Kansas City, MO, enjoying a 34-year career. After retiring, he and his loving wife Kizzie moved to Winter Haven, FL where they enjoyed an easy-going life of warm days and nights. During his leisure time, James enjoyed playing racket ball, going to the gym, traveling, listening to gospel music, and watching his favorite sports teams (Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Lakers). One of his most enjoyable pastimes was making his infamous banana pudding as family and friends would happily tell him how much they loved and appreciated. James was a dedicated husband until he was met with health challenges and was called from labor to reward the morning of Monday, December 5, 2022, at the age of seventy-four. He leaves to cherish and honor his memory is his loving wife Kizzie V. Wright-Thomas of Winter Haven, FL, his four children Sean Thomas of Mobile, AL; Marlo Thomas of Mobile, AL; Angie Thomas of Orlando, FL and James Thomas, Jr. (Salandra) of Virginia; his three step-children Marcus Todd of Baltimore, MD; Marquelle Todd of Louisville, KY; Jasmine Todd of Bonita Springs, FL., and a host of grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters, Mary Jane Harvey of Lorain, OH, Tomzie Lou Williams of Eight Mile, AL, Kimberly Holmes of Columbus, OH (Bryant) and Yvonne Dailey of Prichard, AL, his brother and sister-in-loves, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends. A public viewing will take place at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church at 3880 Dayton Ave., Lorain, OH officiated by Rev. Tyrone Holley on December 17, 2022, from 11:00 am until time of services at 12:00 pm. The repass will take place at Spectrum at 713 W. 5th St, Lorain, OH 44055. Local arrangements entrusted to Brown-Robinson Funeral Home. A small service will be held at the Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery located in Spanish Fort AL where James Lee Thomas will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, please send donations via electronic payment systems (CashApp @ $KizzieThom or Zelle @ 816-206-0533).
