Gregory P. Boyd Sr, 68, of Lorain, passed away August 31, 2021 surrounded by his family at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. He was born June 19, 1953 in Memphis, Tennessee but lived most of his life in Lorain. He graduated from Clearview High School and attended college at LCCC. He went on to become a chemical operator at PolyOne in Avon from where he retired after 30 years. He also spent a large portion of his life owning and managing rental properties and guided one of his sons in the same business. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, keeping up with the news, making people laugh, relaxing on his porch and watching sports, particularly the Cleveland Browns and OSU. In recent years he attended meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he had been baptized, and he also enjoyed listening to bible-based talks on JW Library and JW.org. Gregory is survived by his wife of 42 years, Portia M. Boyd; four children, Gregory P. Boyd Jr. (Kazumi) of Virginia Beach VA, Derrick A. Boyd of Amherst OH, Heather L. Boyd of Lorain OH and Porisha E. Salkiewicz (Chad) of Olmsted Falls OH; five grandchildren, Ebony, London, Camron, Janiyah and Jovaun; two brothers, Russell Boyd (Patty) of Sheffield OH and Robert Boyd (Lisa) of Lorain OH and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvis and Birdell Boyd. A walk-through viewing will be held from 10 AM until time of service at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 8th, at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Social distancing and masks are required.
