Gregory M McCartney

Gregory M McCartney, 71, of Sheffield Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 20, 2023 of natural causes. Mr. McCartney was born on June 22, 1951 in Elyria, Ohio to his loving parents, William E. and Ethel E. (Olah) McCartney.

He was a 1969 graduate of Avon High School and had studied at LCCC. He was married to Carol (Todd) McCartney for 22 years and Marlene Armstrong from 1999 until her time of death in February 2011.

He was a member of the LDS Church for 11 years. He worked as a clerk for the USPS for 26 years, retiring in 2004. His greatest loves were traveling, crossword puzzles, table puzzles, collecting Avon memorabilia, action comic books, eating out, and his family.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas A. McCartney of Lorain and Matthew G. (Jennifer) McCartney of Elyria; granddaughter, Sydney Contreras; grandsons, London Miller, Silas McCartney and Lennon McCartney, all of Elyria; a step-daughter, Jessica Armstrong (John) Farsetti; two step-grandsons, Gabriel and Giovanni; a step-granddaughter, Gianna; a brother, William A. McCartney of Las Vegas NV; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis J. McCartney.

A private celebration of life service will be held.
