George Ray Williams

George Williams, known to family and friends as Jarray (Jahrizzy), transitioned this life on February 19, 2025, at the ripe age of 62.

George Ray Williams was born April 18, 1962, to the union of Owen Williams Sr. and Verline Cole-Williams in Bay Village, Ohio at Bay Village Hospital. George moved to Detroit, Michigan in his teenage years and attended Northern High School, playing basketball and football for Northern Skies. He returned to his hometown Lorain, Ohio, where he completed his high school education at Admiral King High School.

Upon completing his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy servicing our country from 1979-1982. During this time, he met his first wife, Robin Robinson-Williams. To that union their daughter Lorray Se’Mone Williams was born. George was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1982, then relocated back to his hometown where he met his significant other Kay Kay Rucker.

George had an extraordinary gift for making people laugh. His clever jokes and light-hearted humor earned him the title of the family comedian, he could brighten the darkest of days with just a few short words. His ability to find joy in every situation made gatherings vibrant and unforgettable. George's love for his family was unconditional. He cherished every moment spent with them, often igniting celebrations with his lively dance moves that could get even the most shy onlookers to join in. His caring nature extended beyond laughter; he was always the first to lend an ear, offer a helping hand, or simply provide a comforting hug to those in need. George embodied a spirit of healthy competition, never backing down from a friendly challenge, whether it was a game night or dance off. His zest for life was infectious, encouraging those around him to embrace every day with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. While George’s physical presence will be missed immensely, his laughter and love remain in our memories. His pretty smile, which could light up a room, will forever be in our hearts. As we remember him, we celebrate the joy he brought to our lives and the legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness he imparted.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his significant other, Kay Kay Rucker, daughter, Lorray Williams, grandsons Jeahlin Matthew and Christian Giovonni Perkins, Omere and Omaud Burton, great-granddaughter Ivy Elliana Perkins, brothers Darius (Lettie) Williams of El Dorado, Arkansas, Owen (Anita) Williams Sr., Michael Williams, Garland “Perry” (Wilma) Williams, all of Lorain, Ohio, sisters, Michelle Williams-Lovett, Stephanie (Oscar David) Williams-Blair, both of Lorain, Ohio, Regina Williams-Broadnax of Redford, Michigan, sister-in-law Lenora Williams, and host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

George is preceded in death by both parents, Owen Williams Sr and Verline Williams, son Deandre Burton, brothers James Williams Sr, Terri Williams, Leo Williams, and Dwight Williams, sisters Linda Williams-Hawthorne, Nanette Williams, and Cynthia Williams-Pool.
