Gene Oscar Madison was born on June 27, 1954, and throughout his 70 years of life, he embodied strength, adventure, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends and community.
Gene was a man of many accomplishments and passions. A graduate of Elyria High School, he excelled both academically and athletically, setting the stage for his children and grandchildren. Upon graduation Gene had a successful career in the industrial workforce. He worked tirelessly at Abex, Mohen, and ultimately retired from High Production, leaving behind a lasting impact on his coworkers.
Above all, Gene was a devoted husband of 44 years to his beloved wife, Marsha, a loving father to Duane, Gerrell, Tyshekwa, and Ashley, and a cherished Papa to his 11 grandchildren. He found solace in reading, studying his bible, working out, and engaging in recreational activities like wrestling and karate, where he achieved the esteemed status of a 3rd degree black belt.
Gene's dedication extended beyond his family to his role as a mentor and coach, inspiring those around him to strive for greatness and pursue their passions with persistence. His legacy of love, strength, and commitment will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of being coached, spoken to or guided by his wisdom.
Restful peace began for Gene on March 19, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife Marsha, his children Duane (Kendra) Green, Gerrell, Tyshekwa, and Ashley Madison; daughter in love Marci Adams; grandchildren Wanaya Madison, Douglas Taylor Jr., Lance Glover Jr., Isaac Green, Michael Bates Jr., Jaelyn Green, Aniyah Madison, Uriah Madison, Malachi Bates, Noah Madison, and Khaji Bush; granddaughter in love Kendra Tripp; and his siblings Robert (JoAnn) Madison, Bruce Evans, Tyrone (Kevin James) Madison, Patricia Madison, Racheal Rhinehart, Steven Dowell; and extended family and friends who will carry on his memory with honor and respect.
