Esteleen Prieto (nee Taylor), 69, of Avon, affectionately known as “Leen”, made her transition from earth to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 20, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, at Mercy Health Hospital-Lorain, after a brief illness. Esteleen was born April 13, 1952, in Worth, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Beulah (Carlton) Taylor. Leen attended the school districts of Clearview and Lorain City Schools. She was employed by major industries which included the Lorain Towel Supply and United States Steel (USS). While at USS she worked as a painter and bricklayer. After being laid off from the steel mill, she obtained her GED and went on to LCCC and obtained her Associate’s degree in nursing. In furthering her education, she received her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from the University of Phoenix. Esteleen had a great passion for nursing. She worked for various hospitals and nursing homes. She even had her own business (William and Esteleen) WE Care. She taught at Bryant and Stratton College and was well-liked by her patients and students. While living in Akron, she attended the Church of God MPGT. Esteleen was a member of New Life Deliverance Ministries MPGT formerly known as the Apostolic Church of the Living God MPGT. She held various church offices which included President and Vice President of the National Nurses Guild, ordained minister, church mother, usher board, Sunday school teacher and various other offices. She served faithfully until her sickness. She also loved traveling with the church to conventions and assemblies, and she always dressed the part. She enjoyed music, took vocal lessons, and played the organ and piano. She loved hosting family events and decorating. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she loved so very deeply and dearly. Leen wanted everyone to know that “FAMILY IS EVERYTHING”!! She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, William M. Prieto, William J.D. Prieto, Michael Prieto and a daughter, Mujeedah Hassan; 7 grandchildren; her siblings, Marion “Mern” (Jerry) Wells, Deborah “Mollie” (Darnell) Legard, Marsetta (Ronald) Charlton, Robert (Melinda) Taylor, Rhonda Howard, Donna (Kenneth) Sims, Beverly Taylor-Greer, and Alvin (Dhonyale) Taylor; her newly found sister, Coffee Smith; her nephew and caregiver, Shawn Hall; 3 god-children, Justin Wells, Torrin Todd, and Gerald Jackson III; her spiritual mother, Mother Shirley Smith of Akron, Ohio; her daughter by love, Darlene Lighty; special cousins Rosalind Moore, Kimberly Massie and Diane Pitt, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Prieto, Her parents, Robert and Beulah Taylor. Her sisters Edith “Penny” Jackson, Beulah “Sissy Todd”, and Janet Taylor. Her paternal grandparents Richard and Rachel (Moon) Taylor and her maternal grandparents, Mansfield and Bessie (Howell) Carlton.
A viewing will be held at New Life Deliverance Ministries, 400 Washington Ave, Lorain OH on Friday, February 25, from 5PM-8PM and on Saturday, February 26, from 10AM until time of service at 12PM. Social distancing and wearing a mask are required.
