Elva Jareece (Frierson) Robinson went home to the arms of her savior on Sunday April 10, 2022 after a lengthy battle with dementia and a recent stroke. She was surrounded by her loving family. Elva was born on October 11, 1936 in McNeil Arkansas to Clarence and Flozie (Pennington) Frierson. She was the eldest daughter of 8 children. In her youth, Elva attended McNeil Colored Schools graduating in 1954. She then attended Mitchell’s Beauty College to earn her cosmetology license before returning to school for her nursing degree. Elva worked for many years as a nurse caring for others until she retired in 1989 and returned to McNeil to care for her parents. Elva married Joseph Robinson on June 22, 1957. She gained two sons through marriage and together they had five more children. Elva is survived by her daughters Terri Robinson-Yarber, Thelia Robinson, and Tammie Currie, sons Billy Robinson and Bobby Robinson (Lizzita), 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Elva is also survived by her sisters Freddie Faye Jones and Laura Jean Andrews and brothers Clarence A. Frierson (Irene) and Charles Frierson (Vernadine), her aunt Elsie Frierson, sister-in-law Lois Sledge, daughter-in-law Regina Shumate, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A viewing will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 11AM until time of services at 12PM at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 632 W. River Rd N, Elyria. Pastor Calvin Currie will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
