Donald Ray Washington

January 6, 1953 — May 1, 2023

Donald Ray Washington

Donald Washington entered his heavenly home on May 1, 2023 at the age of 70, after an unexpected illness. He was born in Lorain, Ohio January 6, 1953.

Donnie was baptized in Lorain at Mt. Zion Baptist Church as a youth and attended his family church at Second Baptist. He attended Admiral King High School and graduated from Lorain High School in 1972. Donnie worked at U.S. Steel for ten years before relocating to Oklahoma City. He worked for the City of Oklahoma for the Water Department and retired after 30 years of service. He became a faithful member of Wildewood Baptist Church.

Donnie liked watching Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, playing dominoes, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family and friends, which was full of laughter and storytelling. He was always there for everyone; he was kind, supportive, and a very loving person. Donnie loved riding around in his Lincoln, which complimented his debonair style.

Donnie is survived by his children, Cleveland Quinn Washington (Kercena); Kionna Washington-James (Alonzo); his grandson, Jaylen Dillard; his siblings, Diane Quinn-Austin of Lorain, Luther Washington of Savannah, Georgia, Barbara Quinn-Aldridge of Lorain, and Gwen Washington-Tye of Akron; his former wife, Ethel Washington; his lifelong friend, Larry Jones and his family; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. William A Quinn; his sister, Darlene Quinn, his brother, Richard Washington; his sister, Dotti Washington; and his nephew Quinn Aldridge.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 13, 2023, at Living Word Church, 2002 East 28th St., Lorain. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m., Bishop Dennis Johnson of Fairfield Christian Center will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
