Darlene Johnson

Darlene Johnson, 59, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, May 18, 2023. 

Darlene was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on June 30, 1963 and lived most of her life in Lorain, Ohio. She graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School where she played basketball, softball and volleyball. She was a former member of Fairfield Christian Center of Lorain.

Darlene is survived by her siblings: Darrell Johnson, Steven (Barbara) Johnson, Reginal (Makala) Johnson, Terrance Ogletree McRae, Joshua McRae, Ariane Newell, and Kenyada McRae; a special nephew, Legend “Chunky Monkey” Harris, who she treated like a grandson; and a host of other nieces, nephews and loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleave Johnson Sr. and Evangelist Barbara Johnson-McRae; her brothers, Cleave Johnson Jr., Mark Mays, and Willie T. Johnson; and nephew, Mark Mays Jr.

 A viewing will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m. at Living Word Church, 2002 E. 28th St. in Lorain.
