Damita Jo Bonilla

Damita Jo Bonilla of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Lorain, Ohio, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, December 31st, 2023. 

She was born February 14th, 1969, in Lorain, Ohio. Damita graduated from Clearview High School in 1987. Soon after graduation she moved to Akron, Ohio to attend the University of Akron. Later she moved to Las Vegas, working in the restaurant industry and residential manager for many years.  

Damita had a larger-than-life personality and a smile that would light up a room. In high school she was a member of the Clearview marching band and choir and was an avid fan of music. She liked to think that she was Prince’s number one fan! Damita who was affectionately known as Mimi, loved animals, casinos, the color purple and anything sweet. 

Damita will be sadly missed by her mother, Juana Bonilla; her sister, Juana Glass of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Luther Bonilla of Las Vegas, NV; her favorite niece, Ivana Glass; her beloved nephews, Kalvin and Kamari Manning of Las Vegas, NV; great nephews, Xavier Glass and Drew Deloney; her uncles, Nehemias and Nathaniel Bonilla of Lorain, OH; and a host of other loving family and friends. 

Damita was preceded in death by her father, James Carter; her maternal grandparents, Thelma Bonilla and Juan Bonilla; her aunts, Maria Bonilla Murphy, Thelma Atkinson, Sherry and Shirley Atkinson, and Nimsi Rivera; uncles, Lloyd Atkinson, Charles Atkinson, Richard Atkinson, and Neftali Bonilla. 

Friends and family may pay their respect at a memorial service on Saturday, February 10th, 2024, at 4pm at A New and Living Way Ministries, 1510 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Lorain, Ohio 44053
