Cynthia Stewart (nee Wootten), 72, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 following a brief illness. Cynthia was born August 3, 1949 in Lorain where she was a life-long resident. She was retired from Rite Aid where she was a pharmacy technician. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lorain where she served as a communion steward, sang in the gospel choir and served on the usher board. She was also a member of the Busch Club and the 1967 Classmates Dinner Group. Cynthia was active in community engagements and various feeding programs for the community. She enjoyed writing poetry, shopping, cooking, playing poker, and hosting events and gatherings at her home. Cynthia will be sadly missed by her three surviving children, Shelley D. Thomas, Monica V. Singletary (Victor) and Lee V. Thomas II; two grandchildren, Jason Flowers and Brooke Walker (Kyle); three great-grandchildren; her three sisters, Karen B. Wootten, Barbara Packer and Sylvia K. Wootten; three brothers, Larry M. Wootten, Bryan “Petey” Wootten (Theresa) and Allen S. Wootten (Tonia), and a host of other loving relatives. Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Elton “Mack” Stewart, her parents, Charles Henry Wootten and Dolores Jean Wootten (nee Watson); a sister, Deborah J. Wootten; three brothers, Charles D. Wootten, Steven W. Wootten and a baby boy in infancy. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 5-8pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 220 W. 7th Street, Lorain, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11am. Pastor Michael Howard will officiate and Rev. Monique Greenfield will give the eulogy. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
