Curtis Thomas, 72, of Lorain, passed away November 22, 2021 in Mercy Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Curtis was born in Beulah, Mississippi on March 24, 1949 and has lived in Lorain since the age of 15. After graduating from Lorain High School, he entered into the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam war. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army he re-enlisted into the U.S. Marine Corps to serve another term. After returning from military duty, he worked for the Lorain Fire Department. Curtis enjoyed fishing, reading the Bible and spending time with his family. He was known for being meticulous about his manicured lawn which was connected to his passion for landscaping. Curtis will be sadly missed by his longtime companion Sonja Nixon; his children Jessica Nixon, Christi Nixon, and William Nixon; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his sister Ramond Thompson and Jacqueline Thomas, and a host of other loving relatives and friends Curtis was preceded in death by his mother Jamesella Thomas; brother Larry J Thomas and sister Gwendolyn Ross. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 4:00pm until time of service at 5:00 pm at Brown-Robinson funeral home. His resting place will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
