Calvin Kenneth Blair Jr

Calvin Blair Jr., 76, of Lorain, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, after a brief illness. 

He was born August 1, 1948, in Elyria, Ohio to Calvin Blair Sr and Pauline Gaines. He graduated from Lorain High School and worked for the U.S. Steel Company and Giant Tiger. 

Calvin loved his music and enjoyed playing the saxophone. He loved being in the community, enjoying his time with friends, his sister Becky, and himself. Calvin loved to eat! You could catch Calvin at the Gyro House in Lorain and he would always put the brightest smile on someone’s face. Calvin loved going to the theaters to watch movies and always dressed to impress. Calvin loved to wear his suits and loved to dress down in all black. He could tell you anything from back in the day, and his stories were like no other. 

Calvin leaves to cherish his memory his four sisters, Sylvia Noble of Elyria, Jennifer Scott of Las Vegas, Nevada, Geraldine (Becky) Gaines of Lorain and Sharri Wilson of Lorain; a brother, Jeffery Gaines of Lorain; five nephews, Tremayne Blair and Jeffery Gaines Jr., both of Lorian, Richard Flowers of Elyria, Jason Scott and Justin Scott, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; two nieces, Alexis Brown and Shalana Gaines, both of Lorain. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Blair Sr. and Pauline Gaines; his stepfather, Gerald Gaines Jr.; a sister, Deborah Lynn Blair; and a nephew, André Gaines. 

A viewing will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4-6pm at Brown Robinson Funeral Home, 2652 Broadway Ave, Lorain, Ohio 44052.  Immediately following the service, the family will be having a Celebration Gathering for Calvin from 6:30-8:30pm at Jazz on Broadway, 150 East 10th Street, Lorain Ohio 44052.
