Minister Beverly Jo Wiggins, 70, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, following a lengthy illness in The Normandy Nursing Home in Rocky River, Ohio.
Beverly was born on November 15, 1954, in Abernant, Alabama. She moved to Lorain, Ohio at a young age. She graduated from Admiral King High School class of 1973. After graduating she continued her education at Lorain Business College where she received a degree in accounting and business management.
Beverly was a former member of New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in Lorain, and was a member of the United Methodist Church before her passing. Beverly had a heart to serve. She was an advocate for cancer patients and was a member of the Lorain Branch of the NAACP. She loved the Lord, and loved to spread the gospel. She also enjoyed cooking, listening to her country gospel music, and spending time at family gatherings.
Beverly leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Desmond (Stacey) Mitchell, Sr., and Claude Wiggins, Jr.; one grandson, Desmond Mitchell, Jr., her siblings, Odessa Calhoun, Sarah Williams, Brenda Paige (Lucious), Joyce Price, Erwin Mitchell (Elaine) and Marty Mitchell (Rose), along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Beverly is preceded in death by her father, Johnny Mitchell; her mother, Emma Ann Whitfield (nee Shelton), her stepfather, James Whitfield; a sister, Johnnie Lue Snipes, a brother, Ronald Whitfield; her brothers-in-law, George Price and Culver Snipes; and a niece, Elizabeth Snipes.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00AM at Cathedral of Praise Worship and Family Center, 4545 Elyria Ave, Lorain OH 44055, where Bishop Melvin Brown, Pastor, is officiating.
