Betty Jean Orr, 89, of Lorain, passed away May 14, 2024, following a lengthy illness. She was born August 14, 1934 in Marianna, Arkansas. She relocated to Lorain as a young child and lived in the Lorain area for over 60 years. Betty retired from Oak Hills Nursing Home after 28 years of service.
Betty was a proud member of Friendship Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #4 and was part of the Auxiliary VFW. She worked with the Lorain County Board of Elections for many years and was also a devoted Girl Scout Leader, Local 539.
Betty enjoyed going on bus trips, cruises, cooking, catering, playing cards, and working in the yard.
Betty will be sadly missed by her children, Willie (Beverly) Orr Jr., Peggy Orr, Kenneth (Dawn) Orr, and Curtis Melvin; her godson, Micheal Mastin Sr.; her 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren; her siblings, Mae Jackson, Richard McGee, King (Kelly) Zybaidah, Melvin (Delores) McGee, Debra Jones, Clauzell Parks, Bobbie Parks Gaines, Yvonne Gordon, Adolphus Parks, Maxie Parks, John G Parks, and Jimmy Smith; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Orr Sr., her mother, Cora Lee Allen Junior; father, Willie Parks, and 14 siblings.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10 AM until time of her 11 AM funeral service at Friendship Baptist Church, 2160 Reeves Ave, Lorain, Ohio, where Pastor John Jackson is officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
