Barbara Packer (née Wootten), 71, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family, in Mercy New Life Hospice Center following a lengthy illness. Barabara was born October 12, 1952, in Lorain. After graduating from high school, Barbara began her journey traveling. She lived in Japan, New York, and Columbus. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Lorain and was also a member of the Busch Club.
Barbara enjoyed driving and taking road trips, going to the casinos, and spending time with family.
Barbara will be sadly missed by her son, Charles C. Thomas; her two grandsons, Demitrious Thomas, and Charles Thomas Jr.; her sister, Sylvia K. Wootten; three brothers, Larry M. Wootten, Bryan “Petey” Wootten (Theresa) and Allen S. Wootten (Tonia), a longtime companion Derek Christopher; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Henry Wootten and Dolores Jean Wootten (née Watson); three sisters, Deborah J. Wootten, Cynthia Stewart, and Karen Wootten; three brothers, Charles B. Wootten, Steven W. Wootten, and Baby Boy Wootten.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10AM until time of services at 11AM at Wesley United Methodist Church, 220 W. 7th Street, Lorain, where Pastor Michael Howard will officiate, and Rev. Monique Greenfield will give the eulogy. The burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
