Arthur R. "Art" Cook, 68, of Lorain, transitioned on December 20, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on November 22, 1956, in Lorain, Ohio.
Arthur graduated from Admiral King in 1975 and received a full scholarship to West Stark Community College in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he excelled in basketball. He furthered his studies at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Art moved back to Fort Smith, Arkansas where he worked for Whirlpool. He also appeared in the movie “A Soldier’s Story” with Denzell Washington and Pattie LaBelle.
Art moved back to Lorain to care for his mother until her passing in 2019. He loved fishing, playing pool, watching basketball and hanging with the fellas on 16th Street in Elyria, Ohio.
Art leaves to cherish his memory his three brothers, Michael E. Cook of Kansas City, Missouri, David C. Cook of San Diego, California and Ernie Anderson; special brother, Leonard McCall; his companion, Carrie Campbell, and her children whom he adored; Keith Campbell and Damon (Deinye) Campbell, and his step-grandchildren, Robert Campbell, Darryl Campbell, Quinthon Campbell, and Shakeya Campbell; a special cousin, Nicky Robinson of Toledo, OH, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Art was preceded in death by his mothers, Maisie (Kittie) Cook and Ida Anderson, his fathers, Arthur J. Cook and Arthur Anderson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown-Robinson Funeral Home & Celebration Center, 6075 Middle Ridge Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
